You: Even if you are correct — and I'm not saying you are — it would prove only the existence of a prime mover and nothing else. If there was a creative something that started the universe, it might have been destroyed in the process. That is no proof that any "God" still exists.
Aaron: On the contrary, God is immortal and if you accept that he once existed you must accept that he exists today.
You: Your design argument would only prove that there is a powerful, supernatural force, not that it lived forever. No other characteristics of a divine being can be derived from your argument.
Aaron: My faith, everything I believe in, tells me that God is immortal, that he is omnipotent and good. Why can't you see that?
You: Why should I?
