You: Your original argument was that living things must have been made by God, but if you believe that God made everything then it is trivial to point out that God made all living things. It is also obvious that you believe God made all not living things. You still have not proven that he exists in the first place.

Aaron: But if I can prove all living things were made by God, then I will have demonstrated God's existence. Correct?

You: Yes, but you will get nowhere with that argument without first showing me how I can tell living from non-living things. How can we discuss a subset of all things when we cannot even agree on the boundaries of the subset?

Aaron: If you would just give me a chance to make my point without picking at everything I say then we might get someplace.

You: If we get someplace without my feeling confident in the way that we got there then the journey will have been worthless to me. A faulty argument is not going to convince me of anything.

Aaron: Then tell me, what would convince you of God's existence?

You: Only a rigorous proof or an unambiguous demonstration of his power. Since I believe I can safely assume that you are not in a position to supply the latter, I assume you will continue to attempt the former.
