You: Quantum mechanics tells us that there can be effects without causes. It is possible that the big bang was nothing more than a fluctuation in the fabric of space which spontaneously released an enormous amount of energy.

Aaron: That is completely ridiculous. How can you believe such a thing and, at the same time, laugh at me for believing in God?

You: One can devise experiments to test the theories of quantum mechanics. There is no experiment which will show that God does or does not exist.

Aaron: Well, I suppose that there is nothing I can say to shake your faith in this voodoo physics of yours. Perhaps you would find something in a different direction more convincing.
