You: I agree with you that it is not a good idea to base one's beliefs on one's desires, but there is nothing pleasant in believing in an omnipotent being, and no compelling reason to believe in one otherwise.
Aaron: God is like a loving father, always watching over and protecting his children. Wouldn't you say that that is a comforting thought?
