You: Are you saying that faith is an emotion like love? Something that you feel regardless of whether it makes any sense or not?
Aaron: No, faith is more like a sense. When one has faith, one can sense the truth of it.
You: One's senses can be fooled.
Aaron: Someone with strong faith cannot be fooled.
You: Why?
Aaron: Because it is not the nature of faith to be fooled. Faith is truth.
You: You're not making a whole lot of sense to me. Ancient Greeks had faith in many gods; are you saying that they were correct in their beliefs?
Aaron: Pagans do not have true faith.
You: How can I tell true faith from false faith?
Aaron: When one has true faith, one knows.
You: Are you arguing that the Greeks did not believe that they had a true faith?
Aaron: That is correct. I think that they knew deep in their hearts that they were deceiving themselves. How could their stories be anything more than myths? Than fairy tales?
You: What about the followers of Mohammed?
Aaron: They are deceiving themselves and following a false prophet.
You: Might you not be deceiving yourself?
Aaron: I have faith that I am not.
You: I can see that this will never get anywhere.
