You: If God does not punish us for our sins while we are on Earth, then I can justify performing evil acts while I am here.

Aaron: That is ridiculous. You are going to have to explain yourself.

You: I am happy to do so. Let us say that I give a million dollars to an organization that allows it to save the lives of 25,000 third-world babies who would have surely died otherwise. Adultery is a far less a crime than saving a life is a blessing, so surely, if I committed adultery less than 25,000 times in life, my good deeds will more than make up for my bad ones and God could not punish me for them in Heaven.

Aaron: You cannot bargain with sins and good deeds! Good deeds are not stored away as credits and sins as debits in some grand bank of morality. One evil act can wash away a thousand good ones, and only God can be the final judge of who is or is not deserving.

How do you respond?

  2. What if I reverse the order of my actions? Go
