You: If God represents the pinnacle of goodness and I want to be good, then I must act like God would act if he were in my position.

Aaron: Yes...

You: Well, if God were in my position, he would not be omniscient. So tell me, how would God act if he were not omniscient?

Aaron: That is an impossible question. If God were not omniscient then he would not be God.

You: Exactly, and that is where we begin to have a serious problem. If I am supposed to make moral decisions based on how God would make those decisions, but God would not be God if he had to make those decisions, then I am supposed to make moral decisions based on how a being which does not exist would make them. It seems to me that you've defeated your own argument. See what I mean?

Aaron: Well, no actually I haven't understood a word you said. Are you saying that God isn't good?

You: No, I'm just saying that we can't learn anything from God's goodness if we can't identify with it or at least understand it. Is that more clear?

Aaron: This is giving me a headache. Let me try a simpler line of reasoning on you.

You: Sure!
