You: How much faith do you have that God will be revealed to me if I pray with you?
Aaron: Complete faith. God will always reveal himself if asked.
You: Then let's make a little wager. I will agree to pray with you, and if God reveals himself to me I promise that I will immediately accept the fact of his existance and change my life accordingly.
Aaron: Wonderful! Now you have seen the light!
You: Of course, if God does not reveal himself to me, you must admit that you were wrong and give up your false belief in his existance?
Aaron: What an incredible thing for you to say! I would never give up my faith in the Lord.
You: But you said that the Lord would reveal himself to me. If he does not, then we will have proven your faith to be ill founded. That seems to me like a good reason to change your beliefs.
Aaron: No, it is not a good reason. How could I know that you were telling me the truth? That you really, truly tried to let the Lord into your heart?
You: You have my word on it, not that I think that would make a difference. You have shown me that you would not turn from your faith even if you found out that it was wrong, and I have no room in my life for such beliefs.
